AI and I
Who Knew (Bonus)
Through all levels of business, education, and society in general, the pros and cons of Artificial Intelligence—AI—are being debated. Like many inventions in the past, AI can be used for good, but can also be misused—think TNT, nuclear power, certain drugs, just to name a few.
Humans have often been able to invent items that they don’t know how to use.
I do use AI
There, I said it.
To me, AI is an editing tool. I will put in a piece of writing—such as this blog post—and ‘chat’ with the AI program. Where is this bit of writing boring? (Truth be told, I am enough of a pedant that I can get anything bogged down in dates and trivia) Where could I use more information? Where can I use less?
AI has proven to be a good editor—pointing out places where the writing is clear only to me, misspelling of proper names, and giving me choices on ways to improve my writing.
Recently, I asked my AI buddy to produce a caricature of me based only on our discussions.
Here is the result:
Now I am not that young, or that thin, and the only way my hair would be that color is if Miss Clairol and I became really, really good friends.
But the world of books, notes, and pictures surrounding the author figure (would that it were me) is very true to life.
So, here is AI’s view of me.
Maybe next time I will put in my photograph and see what it can do.

Love AI's photo of you. Nope, doesn't look like you, but the rest of it is right on.
